Home buyer hoopla!
We got a GREAT phone call a few days ago! But you are going to need a little back story.
When we looked at the dutch colonial, we were already under contract on another house. Oh for shame right? Well we started looking at houses back in April, not thinking we would find anything very quickly. A couple weeks went by and a house came on the market next door to some friends of ours in a nice neighborhood. We decided that it wouldn't hurt anything to look at it, it had a lot of things on our wish list included, so off we went! The house was a 3 story colonial with a walk out basement, a deck, and a big front porch. And we fell in love with it. And we put an offer on it at our realtor's recommendation. But the catch was....it was a shortsale.
We waited ALL summer for our dream house with no word from the seller or the realtor selling the house. Not a peep. Not a movement either way. So we started looking at houses again. Even our realtor suggested we keep our options open. We found a couple houses we thought we might like to put an offer on so we had our realtor draw up the papers to release us from our contract. When she called she found out the sellers were filing bankruptcy and it could take months longer to even get close to approval and it was likely that the house would end up in foreclosure. We signed the papers with a sigh and moved on. We put an offer on two different homes that were shot down before we found the dutch colonial. The house was great, renovated from top to bottom. The owner accepted our offer with minimal haggling and we set off on our journey to closing as mentioned previously.
Now, two days ago, my husband called me at work to tell me he just got a very interesting phone call from our realtor. I was thinking it probably had something to do with the home inspection we had just done, because the seller was hassling us about making some repairs on the house that it really needed. (Namely the roof needed replacing and some of the electrical outlets did not work.) NOPE! The short sale had been approved and the sellers were offering us our original contract! Apparently they held off on signing the papers that released us in case the bank approved the sale in time to give us a shot at it. It meant (since we signed April 28 and will close September 20) that we will still be eligible for the $8k. Not to mention we are getting the house we really wanted in the first place! So with the roof and electrical problems on the dutch colonial, we were able to get out of that contract, and the sellers of the 3 level shredded the papers that released us from the contract! We set a closing date of September 20 and we are on our way!
1 month 1 week until we close on our dream house next door to our friends and start redecorating!! Yay! Everything works out for the best! Love it!

Weekend spectacular!!
I couldn't be happier its Friday, even though it is Friday the thirteenth, so everything should be going wrong..it means this week is over.
So, for some reason I have not been myself this week. Maybe its good old AF coming back from her nearly month long vacation, but who knows or maybe I am just tired, but I need a beer like crazy so that is how I am going to start my weekend. With beer and good food, and a date with BD.
We are moving forward on the process with the house, however I can't really say its just rolling along smoothly. We had the house inspection this week and well let me tell you the house we fell in love with isn't so perfect :) but there isn't really anything seriously wrong with it either! Nothing that's a deal breaker at least, though now we enter the fun and fantastic negotiations with the seller trying to get him to make some repairs.
I can't wait to get in there and paint the walls, move in furniture and let the dogs run wild in the yard! Its going to be a trip. We got some big boxes this week to start packing!
Can I just say though, that this week, I miss my horses...

The shit frosting on our cake weekend...
We had a GREAT weekend! Bowling was awesome Friday, good time with friends, and then grilling last night and hanging out was great too!
We were being lazy this morning, laying around, looking at bathroom designs for our new house to be. We cooked breakfast late, and were going to venture out to Best Buy and World Market around one. So we head outside to get in the car....joking about not remembering where we parked because we stayed out so late talking to friends at their house.
I'm looking at my car, thinking something looks weird. Well yeah, generally something looks out of place when the entire driver's side window is busted out and there is glass everywhere. SO, someone broke in the Malibu last night to steal a 5 year old crappy Garmin. WTF. My first thought is (haha), WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST STEAL THE DAMN CAR??????
(In case I haven't mentioned this before...I hate the Malibu, it gets me where I am going, but its falling apart on the inside.)
So here we go into this long process with the insurance company, getting a rental, getting the car looked at, calling the police, taking off work tomorrow, UGGGHHHH.
All I can think now is this BLOOOOOWWWS.

PSA:
Its official!
That is all!
It just occurred to me...
That I haven't posted a thing about our TTC journey...I promise I will do so more in the future, but here's a tidbit of our current frustration. (mine that is..)
I am currently at CD40, with no sign of my dear friend, and no BFP. My chart puts me at 20DPO, but I just don't know that its right...its too unclear this cycle. But we press on. Sometime this weekend I will test just for my weekly check, but I guess at CD60 I will call the doctor and see what she says about it. Hey the optimistic cheery side of me is like 'oooo maybe we are pregnant..' but the pessimistic gray cloud side of me is like, 'shut up you goofy bitch, there is no way in hell!'
But thats where we sit. Pregnant ladies EVERYWHERE these days, but its ok, because I looovve babies! And I just found out one of my friends is also TTC so its kind of cool to have another person that relates to the whole situation!
A hunting we did go...
Two times this week! AGHHH. But the good news is we found another house that we like! Thank you insane housing market for flooding the market with houses every week....
We found an adorable dutch colonial bi-level on over a quarter of an acre. Its been totally renovated and already has a fence. I think our dogs will love it, and I've already got the rooms all picked out in my head! Now if the realtor would call us and let us know where our offer stands so we can move forward or negotiate! I will be glad when we move into a house and we aren't so busy looking all the time, or crammed into our little apartment. I don't know why I feel like it will be so much easier to keep a bigger house clean, but I can't help it. At least we will have more space!
Aside from house hunting craziness work has been ridiculous lately, but I love it, because it makes the day go by so quickly. Though I do find myself dreaming about work sometimes (ha). BD has been great with helping keep up with the house lately which I love, because we have both been exhausted with work, the house hunt, TTC, and keeping up with friends.
So on with the weekend please. It looks to be a promising one, even though somehow I managed to miss my niece's birthday this week, and I won't be able to make her 2nd birthday party this weekend...I feel pretty bad about that! But we will find time to go shopping I'm sure! Bowling on Friday night should be fun, I haven't bowled in years so I will be posting some probably hilarious pictures, and grilling out Saturday!

Home is where the heart is..
Well my heart just must not be in it...or maybe our realtor's heart is not in it..I don't know, but I am blaming it on someone! 3 GOOD offers on 3 DIFFERENT homes, and nothing to show for it.
Now I know that the first offer we made in April was a short sale and we knew that it could go either way....they accepted our offer, but neglected to let us know they were filing bankruptcy which pretty much halted the process...The next offer we made was on a beautiful renovation. We made a good strong offer and asked for closing help. This particular home was in a nice neighborhood, but not the best of neighborhoods...you know what I mean? For example, there were two houses in particular on this street that really ( I mean REALLY ) bugged BD. One had an eyesore of a shed in the back yard ant the other had some siding that was in need of repair. So when the seller countered and only wanted to give us half the help on closing that we asked for....we declined. Even our realtor said the man was crazy. The house was on the market 3 days. If I were selling a home...I feel like I would be flattered to have someone come in and make me an offer at list price with in three days of it being listed. But nonetheless we made an offer on yet another promising prospect...and this one didn't even counter. Since our realtor talked us into putting an offer on the house mentioned just previously...we didn't get in first on this house and our offer was too late.
Home buying is a frustrating, infuriating, exciting, wonderful, painful process that I recommend to couples everywhere.
